A court ruling is a statement made by a panel of judges and read out in an open court session where the results of the trial decision can contain a criminal sentence or be free by law from all lawsuits as referred to in Article 1 paragraph 11 of the Criminal Procedure Code. (“KUHAP”). In civil cases, the court’s decision can be in the form of a judge’s decision to change the name or child custody.
If the results of the court’s decision want to be used abroad, it must be translated by a sworn translator, i.e. a translator who has taken the oath to translate official documents. Sworn translators must have a permit issued by the Minister of Law and Human Rights.
The result of the translation of the court decision is stamped and signed by a sworn translator and a statement is given that this court decision has been translated from Indonesian to English (or translated into another language at the request of the client).
The process of translating court decisions requires special accuracy and expertise considering that court decisions contain specific legal terminology used in legal science.
